World of Tanks, the PC Video Game for Windows is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) in which players take the role of mid-20th century tank soldiers of war, each fighting for glory and battlefield domination. World of Tanks is impressively designed, particularly considering it is a free to play game, and the graphics are incredible – most MMOGs are either incredibly designed, or expensive to play…
In World of Tanks, players are given the ability to select from an impressive range of war machines, each offering unique strengths and fatal weaknesses – the strategy is in how you play, choosing the right tank to match your style, and then customising your tank to ensure you can defeat all unworthy opponents. As well as the opportunity to engage in epic tank clashes, the game also offers much deeper strategy, giving board-game lovers a sense of ‘Risk’, and real-time strategy players the familiar feeling of a world map ripe for domination. If you prefer to play the kit-up and muscle-through attack strategy, pick a strong war machine that’s packed with devastating weapons. Or maybe the player will prefers the thinking, strategy and critical-hitting strategy, go for something more lightweight with more strategic weapons. World of Tanks offers its players a deeply engaging experience combined with a deadly arsenal of features.
As with anything, World of Tanks has its rivals – and although few of them come close, there are some impressive competitors. You are guaranteed to love World of Tanks if you enjoy games like:
- Mechwarrior Online – very similar in terms of gameplay to World of Tanks, however the user’s vehicle choices are much different
- Gear Up – very similar concept, however the downside to Gear Up is that the graphics appear far more amateur and ‘cartoony’ – of course, some players like this feel. Personally, I don’t
- War Thunder – probably the most similar in my opinion… except of course, it’s war planes. In fact, I’d go as far to say that this game is more similar in feel to World of Warplanes. Luckily, the developers behind World of Tanks have on offer land, sea and air battle simulations in the guise of three different games (mentioned above). This means unlike many competitors, users do not need to scout the web for different companies, as they get everything they want in an impressively graphical and cool user interface all from the same company, whether it’s land, sea or air.
In conclusion, this game has everything you could want from a MMOG – strategy, levelling up, attack, defence, building a fat bank balance, upgrading weapons and equipment, and massively multiplayer (of course). However, unlike many competitors, the company behind World of Tanks offers everything. From the impressive graphics to the smooth gameplay, it’s everything an avid strategy gamer could need. A Masterpiece then, so do not hesitate to download it and also because World of Tanks is incredibly designed, yet completely free.
The company behind this fantastic new game is Wargaming.net. They are now just as strong as the tanks you play with, and support is unmatched. With dedicated support, you can be sure that if you have a question, it will be answered. This is supported further by the strong player community. The company behind World of Tanks are also behind similarly impressive MMOGs such as World of Warships and World of Warplanes, giving gamers the reassurance that they are an established development company and not a brand new pot-shot in the dark. The company have also developed the game for multiple platforms, which impressively demonstrates their skill with writing code and designing fantastic strategy games across a diverse range of platforms (such as Windows and Xbox).
