Alganon is yet another massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that only requires an internet connection and a computer to play. The game was designed by David Allen and developed by a Quest Online which is an Arizona-based gaming company. When the game first hit the online gaming market in December 1 2009, it was called Crusade before eventually changing to the current name Alganon.
Just like many other games in the (MMORPG) series, the game has two conflicting characters who compete against each other. These groups come in 3 main tiers with the least group consisting of 6 players. After the group you find a legion that consists of 6 groups and the largest tier is the battalion that consists of a set of six legions. coming together to form a team.
One of the main features that make this game stand out is the family feature that encourages communism to bring people together to play the game. It is interesting because each family or group chooses a name and even develops a family history. Within the created families, members can change families but only within similar races. This however will cost a player a fee or quest according to the gaming terminologies.
The other feature is the library. This is a collection of information gathered by players as they continue to explore and discover their continent. This library system updates automatically and the data adds to the gaming server as the players continue to discover them making the game to grow gradually.
As a fantasy-based game, the features in this game are almost similar to many others in its class. Besides the features that make it stand out, let’s look at the system requirements for anyone to play this game. For starters, you can use three different operating systems. These include Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. You also need to have a minimum of 2.0 GB or RAM as well as 2 GHz of processor speed. To get the best picture refresh rates, you can also get nVidia 6000 series or ATI 9800 graphic cards to improve on picture quality. It would be unfair to conclude this review without comparing this game to others in its class.
A good example that compares to it is the World Of War Craft. This game also has a character development strategy and you get to improve the skills of your character as the game progresses. Comparatively, the Alganon has a more advanced progression system that is based on studies by the player. The good news is that you abilities based on the studies stay intact even if you get offline. The only glaring concern about the studies system is that only one character can study at a time. This is inhibiting in a way.
Although the game started as a subscription game that you needed money to play, it has eventually become free to play and one may only buy quests along the line for progression. This perhaps is a good thing because many critics were concern about the payments. Many even questioned whether the game brought about any better quality than its existing competitors that were free-to-play.
