Xfire was first developed in the year 2003 by a team that included garret Blythe, Mike Judge, and Chris Kirmse among others. It was bought by Viacom on 25th April 2006 at a price of US $102 million. The software has changed hands over the years until it was acquired by Titan Gaming in August 2010. The current version 2.40 was added on 23rd September 2013 and is available on a small file size of 524.54 KB. It is free under freeware license and works with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems. There are several Xfire clients that are compatible with other non-Windows platforms such as iPhone and iPod Touch and Mac OS X.
