Description
PowerDVD Ultra is a software program which was developed by the prominent software development company CyberLink, and which was initially released in 1998. It is currently at its 13.0 build 3313 stable release.
The software program is able to run on operating systems ranging from Microsoft Windows XP, through Windows Vista and Windows 7 to the latest version of Windows 8, making it a diverse and widely available program. PowerDVD Ultra is a media player, and is licenced under the proprietary commercial software licence.
Features
The features of PowerDVD Ultra are many and varied. These include contributions from the Digital Living Network Alliance (the DLNA) in addition to the ability to play video files (supported file types include mkv, flv, 3g2 and rmvb). The user is also able to play both DVD and, latterly, Blu-Ray video files using PowerDVD Ultra, while there is an option for GPU-accelerated conversion of two dimensional films into three dimensional films.
PowerDVD is also available in a ‘remote’ setting and on mobile phones, meaning that it is accessible from almost anywhere. These features, I feel, combine to make PowerDVD a very good media player and software program.
Comparison
When it is held in comparison with some of its rivals, I believe PowerDVD Ultra performs rather well. For example, the vast majority of those rivals do not support mobile operating systems, whereas PowerDVD has both a ‘remote’ and ‘mobile’ function so that the customer can use it wherever they may be. In addition, where most of its rivals do not allow music visualisation, PowerDVD is able to offer this function. Its availability, anywhere at anytime, give PowerDVD Ultra a distinct edge over its opponents.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I believe it is fair to say that PowerDVD Ultra is a good, well-performing software program at the top of its market.
