Modern computers are an incredibly powerful and perform multiple tasks at will. However, all such power means that they consist of innumerable amount of components, which function, together in harmony. Keeping track of all the H/W information can be daunting. Windows comes with a System Information Viewer for this, which is quite good but lacks certain features most notably being able to tell the S/W support for the required H/W and the standard followed by them. Furthermore, there is no detailed benchmarking facility apart from proprietary Windows Performance Index. PC Wizard aims to change that with such functionalities and without any installation hassle.
The most important feature of this application would be the fact that there is a zip version available, which can run without any installer and is portable. The interface is standard Windows menu and panel based with the left hand pane housing the icons for various category of information extracted. The amount of hardware support is huge with most common components from manufacturers like Intel, AMD, NVidia, Toshiba, Western Digital, Seagate, Marvell, Ralink, Motorola, Asus, Gigabyte, Cyrix, VIA, EDID, etc. The H/W components support include support for processors, mother-boards, graphics cards, RAM modules, HDD, SSD, common bus, DMA controllers, audio devices, Wi-Fi modems, webcams, monitors, USB Hub controllers, Ethernet cards, etc.
It also has support for latest standards like OpenGL 4.4, OpenCL 1.2, AVX, SSE4, PCIe, NGFF, mSATA, Vt-d, etc including support for virtual machines like VMWare and Microsoft Hyper-V. Apart from these there is a benchmark running facility to test H/W performance and lifetime including S.M.A.R.T. data for HDDs. There is also standard I/O device support with wide range of sensor support too. Windows system information including OLE, Font support, DirectX support, ODBC WinSock, etc. can easily be viewed. The results can be exported in text, RTF, HTML, PDF or CSV format as well can be mailed directly if necessary. There is also multi language support with up to 10 language support apart from English.
For Windows operating system, there are other software having similarity functionality as well. Notably CPU-Z is one such software that provides identical features and is quite commonly used. There is also Speccy from Piriform that can display system information without any benchmarks. Apart from these there is SIW which is a commercial software performing similar task.
PC Wizard is a complete solution to system information retrieval needs. Along with that it has benchmarking tools for knowing about potential upgrades in future. The H/W and S/W support is commendable and there is multi-lingual support as well.
PC Wizard is a product from CPUID and the product exists since 1996. Apart from PC Wizard, they also have other system software like CPU-Z (both for PC and Android) that has extensive benchmarking facilities and is used widely, PerfMonitor to monitor system performance, HWMonitor for similar hardware monitoring and TMonitor to display exact clock speed of various processors and their cores. They also have offerings for developers with system information API and system monitoring kit.
