MultiHasher is a free program that collects and judges the hash of any file. Checksum is something very basic about any file or digital data. This tiny piece of data is derived from an arbitrary block of the data structure. This little piece of data is used to determine if the file is intact or has been altered with errors during some transmission or storage process. There is a checksum function which checks the checksum. This function is also called a checksum algorithm. For any slight change in the input there will be a different checksum marking an error to the original file. MultiHasher works based on the same principle, it checks if the file is still okay after moving or storing it from another previous state.
Verification of different types of checksums is possible using MultiHasher. The calculation takes place within reasonable amount of time, usually within few blinks of your eyes and it is accurate. The types supported are MD5, CRC32, RIPEMD-160, SHA-512, SHA-384, SHA-256 and SHA-1. That’s almost every common type of checksums combines together.
However, the installation procedure for the MultiHasher software is no complex job to do. Just execute the installer package and it will guide through the process. Using the software is bliss! The user interface is intuitive, very easy and user friendly. Opening a file for checksum assessment could be done using the file browser or the drag and drop functionality. Just drag and pull down a file on the software window and MultiHasher starts checking the file’s checksum.
When a file is selected inside the software interface, a stack of information is loaded up on a secondary display on the other side. This section contains the file’s location, size, type, block size, etc. Using the search function, the user can look for a specific file or locate multiple entries.
In MultiHasher there are options to compare two checksums by preserving a checksum to be assessed at a later time. Even a virus check is offered using VirusTotal.com and all these features doesn’t take much of available system resources.
The competition in the same catergory is very high because there are plenty more software for the same job. HashCheck Shell Extension, Hashtab, HashCalc, MD5Sums, GtkHash and many more are there for the same purpose. But fortunately, none of these could maintain the uniqueness like MultiHasher, which offers simple and intuitive interface.
Advanced users who would like to verify the checksums of specific files available on their computers are highly encouraged to use MultiHasher for the purpose. It is free, it is tiny, supports all Microsoft operating systems including Windows 7 and Windows 8, 8.1.
MultiHasher is developed by abelhadigital.com under freeware licensing.
