Description

Downloading music tracks over the Internet may seem easy at first. However, getting music files in a legal, safe and fast way is another problem. This is where iMesh is a major breakthrough, as it allows users to legally download a large selection of audio and video files. The program is both spyware-free and adware-free, but it is not free of charge.

Features

Residents of the United States of America and Canada are allowed to download music files for a monthly fee, which usually changes every year. However, users are also allowed to purchase individual audio files for a $1 flat fee. The computer application is currently available in 9 languages. This media and file sharing client requires a proprietary and centralized P2P network to function properly. One of the program’s main features is a tab bar that provides the user with access to various areas, such as the ‘Library’, ‘Home’, ‘Search’, ‘Discover’ and ‘DJ’. ‘Library’ refers to a folder where all the media is stored on a user’s computer, while ‘Home’ is the main screen of the software. The ‘Search’ function allows the user to find audio and video files, buy and subsequently download them.

Even though these features are nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to a file sharing client, iMesh offers a unique feature that similar programs lack. ‘Discover’ is a very useful tool for users who want to find both new artists and music genres. ‘DJ’ allows the user to listen to a wide variety of audio tracks.
In addition to that, this computer application also includes a state-of-the-art player for video and audio files.

The built-in player offers a 10-band equalizer, not to mention that it also allows the user to burn media CDs and DVDs. To use this function, the user has to pay either the monthly subscription fee or an individual flat-fee for each file. Moreover, the integrated iMesh CD burner does not require the files to be downloaded. The program provides users with access to both paid and free audio and video files. The interface is quite user-friendly, which makes the software easy to use. The quick return on search results is also worth mentioning. The newest addition to iMesh is the possibility to integrate the program with the user’s Facebook account.

Comparison

iTunes and Vuze are the main competitors of iMesh. iTunes is very popular with Apple users, while the currently reviewed computer application is preferred by Windows users. Both programs have similar functions and now that iMesh also supports a Facebook account integration, there is virtually no major difference between them. Vuze, on the other hand, is a BitTorrent client that allows users to share files via the homonymous protocol.

Conclusion

In conclusion, iMesh is a file sharing client that allows users to discover new bands and music genres, but also to search for popular songs. Although listening to audio files is free, downloads cannot be performed unless the user pays a monthly subscription fee or buys each audio file separately.
