Description
Transferring huge files can take so much time that errors are prone to happen. To solve this problem, the HJSplit can parcel big documents into segments. From there, these segments can be saved onto removable storage like USB flash drives and CDs. Don’t worry though because the software can also merge them again into one file.
Features
The software can process files as big as 100 gigabytes and it works on operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Mac, DOS, OS/2 and Amiga. HJSplit also works on JAVA and PHP programming languages.
With the HJSplit supporting several operating systems, one can transfer files with a receiver that uses a different OS. Aside from that, there are only six buttons in the program’s interface and two of which are the About and the Exit buttons. Internet links and the software’s help file can be accessed via the About button. Meanwhile, the other four buttons are the Compare, Checksum, Join and Split options. In Compare, the file sizes of two documents can be seen side by side. In Checksum, the total space that certain number of files take up is revealed.
Meanwhile, the Join and Split options are pretty straightforward. When the Split button is clicked, the user will choose the file to be segmented and the way he wants it to be divided. Files can be separated into gigabytes or kilobytes and all partial files will be saved onto a destination folder. The files can be divided in a matter of seconds and can be joined that fast as well. It is a simple file management program that can help distribute files easier particularly to file sharing sites like Rapidshare.
The HJSplit works faster than its counterparts because the program is just 300 kilobytes big. Also, it can process all files unlike other programs that can only split and merge documents or music files. However, this program can’t do anything else but to join and split files. It cannot be used to rename files or convert them into other file types. Likewise, its interface is pretty simple and the progress bar of the tasks done with this program tend to freeze for seconds after the process is through.
Conclusion
But in terms of functionality, this program does the job with eating much space in the hard drive. It can also be passed on to others so that file transfers and file management can be smoother. For better performance, future users should download the much improved HJSplit Version 3.0 which can be found in portable software aggregates online.
