eMule Xtreme Mod was started in 2004 by a German programmer nicknamed ‘Xman’ who developed it through his website xtreme-mod.net. After the release of Xtreme v6.1 on August 2007, Xman could not be contacted again as his website remained unchanged until late 2010. A one year old eMule Xtreme Mod began to host on SourceForge in January 2005. Xtreme 4.5 was released in September the same year which introduced DLP that is currently used by a number of other eMule mods. The latest project is managed by a Chinese programmer known as zz_fly who has been incharge since Xtreme 6.1.
